Big Bang Fair (Spring 2015)

David Cameron at The Big Bang Fair
The Big Bang is the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people in the UK. Everything is aimed at showing young people (primarily aged 7-19) just how many exciting and rewarding opportunities there are out there for them with the right experience and qualifications.
From 12 – 15 March 2015, over 75,000 visitors were welcomed to The NEC, Birmingham, and were amazed them at just how exciting engineering and science can be. But it’s about more than thrills.

For the national event (The Big Bang Fair) which happens in March every year in Birmingham, we work with to try and give a flavour of the real scale of engineering and science in the UK.
At its heart, The Big Bang is about careers and futures and highlighting the exciting possibilities that exist for young people with science, technology, engineering and maths backgrounds.  It’s about the contribution they, with the right motivation, can make to the UK economy and to society in general.

A Young Member Panel member, helping out on the day, says:
"....Assisting children with building either the Eiffel Tower, the London Eye or a suspension bridge out of octagons was good fun and a nice opportunity to chat to both children and parents about engineering...."

Project Talk (Spring 2015) - Paradise Forum

Flyer - Click to enlarge
On Thursday 5th March, Glenn Howells Architects and Argent gave a talk on the near and dear Paradise Forum Redevelopment project.

Paradise forum as we know it is to be transformed into a vibrant mixed use development of commercial, civic, retail, leisure and hotel space, providing major improvements to pedestrian access and public realm within this exemplary historic setting. Paradise will be one of the biggest development schemes Birmingham has seen for a generation and will dramatically transform the whole area of the city.

Argent and Glenn Howells intend to deliver this large scale development through a phased programme, and the first phase started on site in January 2015.
